John Floyd, Critical Care Unit Director at TriStar Southern Hills, was recently awarded TriStar Southern Hills Medical Centers’ Innovators Award. Floyd will now be eligible for the nationwide 2015 HCA Awards of Distinction, the highest honor at HCA, the parent company of TriStar Southern Hills.
The Innovators Award acknowledges employees who share innovative ideas to improve patient quality, service, or the efficiency of company operations.
Floyd created a quality improvement initiative in the critical care areas of the hospital to reduce pressure ulcers, healthcare-related worker injuries, and specialty bed rental usage. One year after implementation, pressure ulcers reduced by 80%, injuries reduced by 100%, and rental bed usage reduced by 72% saving the hospital more than $200,000.
